M & G Photos"The kultural upstarts kollective, a Cape Town-based collective of cultural activists erected an installation commenting on the government's refusal to support those seeking reparations from multinationals who benefited/implicated in apartheid."
CTLive"Cultural activists, the kultural upstarts collective (KUK) chose Day of Reconciliation (16th December) to highlight that the government is opposed to legal action that is being taken against multinational corporations that, allegedly, encouraged and furthered abuses during apartheid. In the latest endeavour to reclaim public space and blur the boundaries of activism and art, the kuksters crucified Steve Biko to St. Georges Cathedral. Literally. The installation, entitled 'Banking on Reconciliation' features a giant crucifix made up of the logos of all the multinationals being sued. KUK believes that for reconciliation to be achieved, the government has an obligation to work towards ensuring prosperity of all South Africans and condemn the injustices of the past and present."
